When FDM's 0.4mm nozzle and visible layer lines aren't good enough, SLA delivers. Precision functional prototypes with ±0.15% tolerance (min ±0.05mm on small parts), smooth mating surfaces, and features that actually snap together first time. No sanding, no filling, no hoping the parts will fit — just accurate geometry straight off the printer.

Ideal for product designers validating form and fit, engineers testing enclosure designs, and anyone working with parts smaller than a thumbnail. If your prototype needs to demonstrate real functionality — clips that click, threads that engage, surfaces that seal — SLA is the right process.

Our engineering resins behave like real plastics. Formlabs Tough 1500 (polypropylene-like, in stock) springs back from repeated flexing — ideal for snap-fits. Tough 2000 offers ABS-like impact resistance, and Rigid 4000 (glass-filled, in stock) gives the stiffness enclosure work demands. These aren't fragile display models; they're working prototypes built to be tested, iterated, and validated. Every resin has a published Formlabs datasheet, so you can design against real material data — and non-stocked resins are simply ordered in for your job, with any surcharge shown upfront in the quote tool.

The same resins make excellent jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids — assembly guides, drill and alignment jigs, soft-jaw inserts and inspection fixtures for the workshop. Tough 1500 shrugs off knocks on the bench; Rigid 4000 holds a precise datum. For Bicester and Oxfordshire workshops it's a fast, low-cost way to replace machined or laser-cut fixtures.
